About ADA

Supporting the Global Families of Aussenwirtschaft Austria

ADA (Angehörige der Aussenwirtschaft Austria) is a volunteer-run association that supports the spouses, partners, and families of employees in the international trade section of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (Aussenwirtschaft Austria / AW).

Founded in 1983 as AGD (Arbeitsgruppe Damen), ADA has evolved from a Vienna-based family support group into a modern, inclusive network spanning continents. Since 2016, we’ve embraced digital tools, welcomed members of all genders, and expanded our reach to serve a truly global community.

We are a legally registered Verein, based in Vienna.

Our working language is English.

Why We Exist

Life in the AW roulement brings extraordinary opportunities — but also unique challenges. Moving frequently, navigating foreign systems and managing dual-career or parenting demands can be isolating.

That’s where ADA comes in.

We exist to make this journey easier, more connected and more empowering for all AW families.

We share resources, host peer-led events and collaborate with AW leadership to improve life on the move — together.

We are:

  • Independent but collaborative – self-run, yet in close contact with AW HR

  • Personal and practical – shaped by real experiences and needs of members
